About Me

Hi, I’m Melissa Kanenbley, MSW, LCSW

 — a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience supporting individuals, couples, and women through life’s most tender and transformative seasons. My passion is walking alongside those who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or lost, helping them rediscover their strength, clarity, and most authentic selves.

Throughout my career, I’ve helped people navigate everything from the intensity of new motherhood to the quiet weight of anxiety, burnout, and relationship strain. What I’ve learned over the years is this: healing doesn’t come from “fixing” yourself — it comes from learning to meet your experience with compassion and care.

My approach is grounded in compassion, honesty, and practical strategies. Therapy with me isn’t clinical or distant — it’s a real, human connection where you can breathe, reflect, and grow. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Warm and relational: A safe, non-judgmental space where you feel seen, heard, and understood.
  • Collaborative: You are the expert on your life, and we’ll work together to set achievable goals.
  • Experienced and Insightful: With training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gottman Couples Therapy, perinatal mental health, and substance abuse/addiction treatment, I bring practical tools and compassionate guidance to each session.

I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work and am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Outside of therapy, I enjoy spending time with my husband and four children, training with my service dog, Bear, watching baseball, and hiking.

You don’t have to show up with all the answers, just a willingness to explore what healing could look like — together.

“The journey to self love begins when you drop the pretenses and love yourself how you want to be loved by others, fully and unconditionally, not despite your flaws but because of them.” – Brene Brown
